Funeral service for Ramon Garcia, Sr., 69, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence.
He died May 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born August 18, 1948 in Topeka, KS the son of Antonio J. and Hazel (Salinas) Garcia.
He was a custodian for the University of Kansas. He had a passion for fishing and listening to Mexican Music.
He is survived by three sons, Ramon (Robyn) Garcia, Jr, Arlindo (Kelli) Garcia and Antonio Garcia (Rosanna) one daughter, Ricaela (DJ) Garcia all of Lawrence; three brothers, Tony Garcia, Walhalla, SC, James Garcia, Lawrence, KS, Andrew Garcia, two sisters, Lucille Escobar, Pasadena, TX, Virginia Briggs, Topeka, KS; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister and a grandson.
A rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. with a visitation from 5-7 p.m. on June 4, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

I worked with Ramon at the University of Kansas. For 7 years…we would ride back and forth to work together. This is a shock and I am saddened by the news..my deepest condolences to the family.
