Pearl Ida Grant

Pearl Ida Grant, 100, Lawrence died November 6, 2016 at Medicalodges in Eudora. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at McLouth Cemetery.

She was born October 22, 1916 in Lakeview, KS the daughter of Elmer and Ida (Beuerman) Athey.

She was a supervisor at the Hawks Nest in the Union and she was also a supervisor at Wescoe and Summerfield Hall at the University of Kansas. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, baking, making quilts, knitting and crocheting.

She married Floyd William Grant, Sr. on October 1, 1938 in Olathe, KS. He preceded her in death April 27, 2009.

Survivors include son, Floyd William, Jr, and wife, Karren, Overbrook, daughter-in-law, Dorothy Grant, Lawrence; granddaughter, Heather; and sister, Rosabelle Dew, Topeka, KS. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gary Grant on January 25, 2014; her parents; sister, Ruby Newton; and brothers, Paul Athey, Earl Athey.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Humane Society and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    So sorry for your loss! So all of my mom’s and dad’s siblings are gone now. I am the older generation. Prayers to all.
