Norman Richard Arnold

Norman Richard Arnold, 80, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021.

The youngest of seven children, Norman was born in Spring Hill, Kansas. He attended Hutchinson High School in Hutchinson, Kansas where he met the love of his life, Janice Lucas. He attended Hutchinson Junior College. He went on to start his own business. Norman loved spending time with his family, gardening, and sports. He was known as being a positive and encouraging person to others, always looking at the bright side of things.

On his final days, he was surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife Janice, four children, Jana Arnold, Mike Arnold, Christy Bugg, and Ashley Jones. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Kristen, Samantha, Ashley, Allison, Josh, Justin, Isabelle, and Jackson; two step grandchildren, Kennedy and Morgan; nine great grandchildren, and one on the way. Norman was preceded in passing by his grandson Jake Bugg. Norman also leaves behind his brother Loran Arnold and sister Eileen Galliart, both of Hutchinson.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. The family will greet friends prior to the graveside, beginning at 1 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Norman’s name to Warren-McElwain Mortuary to help defray funeral expenses and may be sent in care of the mortuary at 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

    Norman I always admired how you were so positive of anyone’s ideas…. even if maybe they were a little half-baked. That attitude was nurtured in your children and they have passed it along as well.

    I am indebted to you and Janice for being such loving and spoiling grandparents to Jackson and to all of your grandkids. This meant the world to me.

    I will miss our political discussions and watching sports together, and why this was the year the Jayhawks would win the national championship. You’ve got the best seat in the house now. Godspeed.
