My condolences to the family of a good friend and neighbor of mine. Nancy lived in the country home of my aunt and uncle at one time. I always enjoyed visiting with her. She was such a positive person. I’ve lost a friend.

I was saddened to learn that Nancy has passed away. She was my P.E.O. sister and we worked on committees together and sometimes shared rides to meeting. We also shared a maiden name, although my last name was Lindsay. I will miss her, but remember her very fondly.

I am so sorry to learn of Mrs. Helmstadter’s passing this summer. She was on AAC for Pi Beta Phi while I was an active member (1989-1993) and she changed the course of my life with her belief in me, her encouragement, kindness, generosity and passion for our sisterhood. I think of her often. She inspired me to give back through my own servant leadership in Pi Phi, always striving to make a difference for members, just as she did for me. We are currently planning the 150th Anniversary of KS Alpha in April 2023 and I know she would have loved every minute of the celebration. She truly was an amazing role model and I am lucky to have known her. I am thinking of you all.

Nancy was a beloved member of our Lawrence Pi Phi alumnae club. She shared many stories about her time as a Kansas Alpha and as a servant leader for the house as an alum. I will always remember how stylish and poised she was, her gift of story telling and her love of Lawrence, KU and Pi Phi.
