Muoi Chieu

Muoi Chieu, age 88, loving mother of eleven passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at her home surrounded by her families. She grew up with a large family, she was the oldest of nine children, she had seven brothers and one sister. She was influenced by family to be a loving and caring women, always giving her time to others, she incorporated that into her motherhood.

Muoi was born on May 7, 1933, in Saigon, Vietnam, the daughter of Chuong Khai and Hao (Ly) Chieu. She married Dan Dieu Truong on December 31, 1953 in Vietnam. Since then she had become a devoted catholic, her husband proceeded her in death on November 20, 1998.

Muoi migrated to Lawrence in1991.  After working at Packer Plastics for 10 years, she retired and devoted her time to care for her children and grandchildren.  As a doting mother, she loved cooking for people who came to visit her, as well as going on many fun trips with her families.  Her trips to Asia and Australia were among her most exciting adventures she enjoyed to have spent with her children.  She also enjoyed looking at lottery number and figuring out possible winning numbers.  During the weekend, Muoi also liked to eat out and playing roulette for fun.  She believed these fun activities keep her mind sharp and active.  Many people who had a chance to interact with Muoi were always impressed how clear and quick thinking she had as an elderly.

Muoi is survived eleven children, eight sons, seven daughters-in-law, three daughters, two sons-in-laws, fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Survivors sons and daughters-in-law are Tinh Quan Truong and Jane Phu Truong, Tinh (Mac) Chi Truong and Tracy Trang, Tinh Kiem Truong and Nga Dang, Alan Truong and Sandy La, Tinh (Kevin) Man Truong and Lindsay Truong, Derek Truong and Nancy Vo, Andy Truong and Lynn Nguyen, Brandon Truong. Survivors Daughters and sons-in-law are Mindy Truong and Ryan Thu Truong, Wendy Holmes and Bryan Holmes, My Truong. Grandchildren and their spouses are: Alex Truong and Heidi Cao, Hung (Matt) Truong, Ariadne Spes, Kathy Truong and Ryan Flynn, Minh (Tommy) Truong and Jennifer (Jen) Huynh Truong, Tien Truong, Jason Truong, Emily Truong, Justin Truong, Aidan Truong, Cassandra Truong, Kacee Truong, Kishi Truong, Eric Truong, Helen Truong. Great-grand-children: Chloe Truong, Toby Truong, Nora Truong, Henry Truong, Florence Truong, Beckett Flynn, and Remi Flynn. She will be greatly missed by her families and friends.

The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence and again from 10-noon on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Mass of Catholic Burial for Muoi Chieu, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will be held at Catholic Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence.
