Montie Marie Rosencrantz

Montie Marie Rosencrantz, 90 peacefully passed away June 6, 2017 at home in Westwood, KS surrounded by her family.

She was born September 21, 1926 in Eureka, Kansas the daughter of Henry Emmett and Sarah Ruth (Hughes) Brunson. She graduated from Leon, KS High School and attended JUCO in Eldorado, KS.

Montie married Ralph Harris Rosencrantz on July 30, 1950 in Arkansas City, KS. She is survived by two sons, David W. (Kathleen) Rosencrantz, Boise, ID, Daniel F. (Yvonne) Rosencrantz, Westwood, KS; one daughter, Ruth Ann (Stephen) Byrd, Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one brother, Harley Joe Brunson. Montie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers (Henry and Leonard) and one sister, Patricia Seward.

She was employed by The University of Kansas for 23 years at the School of Religious Studies. Montie prided herself as being a retired homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, loyal friend and humbly reflected, “She did what she could.”

Montie and Ralph resided in Lawrence, KS for 57 years, where they lovingly raised their family. They were devoted members of the First Christian Church and requested that all memorial contributions be made in her name to the church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    Aunt Montie, you will be missed! And now that you have made it to heaven, tell Uncle Ralph one last time that long, black socks still don’t go well with his swimsuit!!!! Love to all the family, miss you guys.

    Montie’s passing is sad to me and all of us who worked with her at the Kansas School of Religion and the Department of Religious Studies. She was always right on target in her work and supportive of the many people who worked here. And she never forgot a birthday! I’ve missed her all these years since she retired and wish the family well.
