Your family doesn’t know me. I used to meet a friend for lunch and take my grandchildren to Penny Annie’s. What a wonderful family. They always gave everyone a smile and where always patient while my grandchildren picked their candy treat after lunch. How lucky for him to spend time with family members at work.. Your family made old downtown great. You’ve all been missed. Thank you for all the happy times.

Monte and Becky were so very kind to me. Monte took up in the plane several times and we flew over Clinton Lake to see the music festival crowd. I went with him to Kansas City to pick up candy and felt I was part of the Bower’s family. His dedication to his grandchildren was the best.

I would stop in Penny Annies and peek in the kitchen and Becky would tell me to sit down and make a sandwhich for me and Monte would discuss local “politics”.

Emily and Gunnar I watched grow up. Monica was the best and the whole family.
Monte,,,was a good friend! And Becky equally so!

Monte was a 1950 De Soto High School classmate, and we were good friends throughout high school. We had many teenage adventures, and I am sorry that I didn’t know he was near death. Had I known, I would have visited him to renew and recall our youthful experiences. May his family know of my deep sorrow of his passing. May his soul Rest In Peace.

Condolences to Monte’s family. Whether it was at Chamber meetings, restaurants or events, Monte was always out and about. Even ran into him at Linwood Days one year. He and his faithful loving doggie companion were always glad to be at whatever was taking place in De Soto. It will be strange to not see him around town.
    RIP Monte!
