Michael Robert Kocolowski, 59, passed away January 18, 2024. Born August 18, 1964 to Robert Kocolowski and Roberta Kocolowski neé Rekash, he grew up in Hickory Hills Illinois with his brothers William and James. Michael graduated from Stagg High School in 1982 and met his future wife, Janice Kocolowski neé Swanson, not long after. They married May 21, 1988 before being blessed with two children, Timothy and Cari. Michael lived with his family in Bolingbrook Illinois until 2013, when the family moved to Kansas, where they still reside near Lawrence.
Michael was known to his family and friends as a man of action and activity, determination, and as a bit of a troublemaker. He loved animals and cared for several dogs, cats, and other pets throughout His life. Michael also loved being outdoors, admiring classic cars, and watching westerns.
Michael is survived by his wife, children, and brothers. He is preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service at 2 pm on Tuesday January 23rd at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. Anyone unable to make it in person is welcome to attend via the online video.
Jan Cari and Tim I am so sorry to hear of Mikes passing. I know he is at peace now and not in pain. Yes Mike was a great guy and yes he would always play that onery card when he’d come see me at HD. Just remember all the great memories you all made with him and know he is watching over all of you and keep him in your heart with all those memories. Love you all
