Michael Charles Capra, 62, passed away Sunday November 13th, 2022, at his home in Overbrook, Kansas.
Michael was born April 11, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri to Samuel Joseph and Patricia Ann (Hilley) Capra. He attended Ruskin Heights School and served in the Coast Guard. During his Coast Guard service, his unit received a Commendation Ribbon for assisting in one of the biggest at sea rescues, helping to rescue 520 souls from MS Prinsendam in the Gulf of Alaska. After his service in the Coast Guard, he moved back home to the Kansas City area and started plumbing. On July 12, 1990 Michael and Tamara Jo Weeks were united in marriage. In 2000, he started a plumbing company in Lawrence, Kansas. Aside from plumbing, he owned and operated two restaurants and bought and sold real-estate. His off time, he would spend at his residence where he would help raise anything his wife and kids would bring home. Michael was never afraid of an adventure; he lived his life.
Michael Capra was proceeded in death by his parents, Samuel and Patricia Capra; his granddaughter Adalynn Jo Capra.
He is survived by his wife, Tamara Jo (Weeks) Capra of Overbrook, Kansas and six children; Samuel Quentin Capra and wife Megan of Overbrook; William Anthony Capra of Overbrook; Dominic Michael Capra of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Anna Maria Capra of Mission, Kansas; Sarah Elizabeth Capra of Lee’s Summit; Ashley La’Ren Cook and husband Jimmy of Independence, Missouri; and a total of seven grandchildren; his brothers; Joe and wife Lynn Capra of Lee’s Summit; Dennis and wife Denise Capra of Stillwell, Kansas; Daniel Capra of Overland Park, Kansas; his sister Marla Jo and husband Stephen Mayrand of Lee’s Summit; seven nieces and nephews and nine great-nieces and nephews.
Tamara so sorry to hear about Mike. So many 4-H memories came to mind when we heard of his passing.
Our thought are with you and all the kids
A true character I would count on to be direct and smart. He challenged me to find bargain real estate deals. He solved many people’s service problems when they needed them most. He will be missed.
A true man of his word. No nonsense to the point.
