Mary Simmons

Funeral service for Mary Lucille Simmons, 81, Lawrence will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  She died on October 26, 2009 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born on July 29, 1928 to James Milton and Fannie May (Gunter) Duvall in Henry County, Missouri.

She moved from Clinton, MO to Lawrence in 1952

She married Charles Simmons on November 4, 1956 in Lawrence.

Lucille retired from Hercules, Inc. in 1984 and they moved to Grove, OK and spent the winters in Yuma, AZ, where they had a home. 

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lawrence where she sang in the choir.  She also sang in the choirs at Grove and Yuma.  She was a member of Lady Elks in Grove. 

Survivors include cousins and many others that were like family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband. 

The family suggests memorial contributions in her name to the First Christian Church Choir and sent in care of the mortuary.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
