Here is to ask the good times collected at Grandma Mary’s house with the family for holidays, playing in the treehouse by the lake, enjoying endless hot rolls, and the countless other memories of her. I wish I could be there for the service to say my final goodbyes, but I know she never left my side. I love you grandma Mary.
Great pictures. We will miss her and miss talking about gardening, books and cooking, and family. Our love goes out to the family.

I was a student of Russell Getter’s at KU back in the late 70s/early 80s and kept in touch with him for years afterward [I was originally from Lawrence] and visited their home several times, before his health began to decline seriously. She was always a sweet lady and a gracious host. I know you will miss her!
Sad to hear of Mrs. Getter’s passing. Lots of wonderful memories with the Getter family: learning to ski behind the “Go Getter;” swimming in the pond/lake behind the house; and many more. Mrs. Getter had a warm, friendly and welcoming personality. My best to her family. I hope your memories will get you through this time.

Getter Family:
Deeply sadden to learn of Mary’s passing. What a wonderful woman who brought happiness to everyone she met. I am sorry that I did not hear about Mary’s death until the afternoon of her funeral. I truly regret that I was not able to attend.
As the Director of Small World, I first met Mary when she volunteered in our Nursery. What a sweet, kind, friendly woman! Upon meeting her, mothers immediately trusted Mary to with their babies. Each child she cared for was special to her. The babies loved her!
It has been at least five years since I last saw Mary shelving books at the Lawrence Public Library! Always busy, always serving others, always smiling.
Rest in peace, dear friend!
