Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn Brown, 87, Lawrence, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence.
She died on Thursday, September 09, 2010 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar in Lawrence.
Mrs. Brown was born on September 11, 1922 in Richland, KS, the daughter of Martin F. & Clara J. Boursaw Ice.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Brown was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Altar Society Groups 6 & 7 and the R.E.A.C.H. Program. She was also involved in Letter Carriers
Auxiliary Branch #177 and Willing Workers Club of Lecompton.
She was married to William F. “Kise” Brown on June 20, 1942. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Frances, and husband, Michael Riner, Lawrence, KS; three sons, Stanley, and wife Felicia Brown, Richard Brown, and Edward Brown, all of Lawrence, KS; two granddaughters, Saundra Wagner and Alexis Riner; and one great granddaughter, Michaela Wagner; one sister, Judy Hill, Lawrence, KS. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and Al Ice.
Family will greet friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at the mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Evelyn Brown Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

I always looked forward to the holidays and Evie’s call to come get some noodles. She made the best.. and I am glad Flea knows how to make her wonderful angel food cake.
