Just got word that Mary had passed and I’m so saddened by this! Exchanged cards at Christmas and Mary expressed how the Parkinson’s was taking such a hold on her! I worked with Mary when she was a Medical Surgical nurse educator at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was an amazing educator, compassionate nurse and a wonderful friend to me and so many others! I’ll miss her terribly! My prayers are with her family at this difficult time!

I worked with Mary when she and Jerry lived in Iowa. She was very knowledgable about her job and loved to share her experiences with the people she worked with. My husband, Paul, and spent several evenings at their house playing games and enjoying Mary’s delicious food. Our favorite game was Apples to Apples. We had so many laughs over that game.
Many years ago before working remotely was popular, Mary encouraged me to explore the world of online nursing education. I now work solely online, from home. I’m so thankful for her encouragement and guidance in order for me to secure such a position.
Every year, Mary & I exchanged Christmas cards. I will miss hearing from her.
I’m very sorry for your loss. Thinking of you during this difficult time.

When I think of Mary I think of what a wonderful hostess, co-educator, funny friend and traveling companion she was. Even though our time together teaching was short, we had some great adventures. You all can rest assured that she was loved by many! She just just had that special sparkle that brightens the world only rarely.

I’m so sorry to hear the sad news. I will always treasure the experiences Mary and I had together. Some were super fun and some were working and praying over our patients. No matter what, she was a most supportive friend. We spent hours talking about our families. She loved all of you so much. My thoughts are with her and with everyone who is mourning today.
