Mark Allen Besser

Graveside services for Mark Allen Besser, 62, Oskaloosa, KS, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 at the Eudora Cemetery in Eudora. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel in Eudora, KS. Mark passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his home.

Mark was born on April 29, 1958 in Topeka, KS the son of Richard Paul and Anna (Edgerton) Besser.

He attended Heritage Baptist Church in Lawrence.

He worked for Checkers in Lawrence for many years. He loved to hunt for morel mushrooms and was looking forward to this year’s season. He was also an avid coin and metal collector.

Survivors include his children, Joel (Kelli) Besser, Matthew Besser, Gretchen Besser, Megan Besser, Sarah Besser and Ruth Besser; five grandchildren, Lilliana, Gustave, Beckett, Russell III, and Callen; three brothers, Jimmy Besser, Lawrence, Gordon (Mary) Besser, Oskaloosa, and Randy Besser, Linwood; two sisters, Ginger (Bob) Ballard, Hackett, AR., and Linda Besser, Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ryan Besser, Eric Besser, & Joedy Besser.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mark’s name to any of the donor’s choice of Children’s Organization and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

    Mark was so sweet and always went out of his way to come and speak to me during family gatherings.

    I will always remember Mark with that mischievous smile on his face. And how passionate he was about his mushroom hunting. He started his fascination with coins when he was barely walking.     I am so sorry to hear about Mark. I have known him since he was 1 or 2 years old and saw him often when I’d go visit Anna there in Eudora. The Besser family holds a special place in my heart. I will be at the visitation. Love Debbie

    So sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. My condolence’s to the Besser Family.
    I graduated from high school with Mark. I always remembered Mark as a kind
    person . He always spoke and was friendly to everyone. I still live down the hill from
    the family home. He always waved as he went bye , he didn’t know my husband but he would occasionally chat with him. May he rest in Peace.
