A memorial service for Maria “Rachel” Gama, 39 will be held on Saturday at St. Johns.
She was born December 20, 1970 in Santa Barbara, California. She was granted her angel wings on January 19, 2010.
She is survived by her parents, Jose Leonardo Mireles & Elsie Rodriguez, three daughters, Elsie Irene Gama; Gloria Fernanda Gama; and Sulema Gama all of East Palo Alto, CA; sister Mirelda Mireles, Topeka, KS; brother, Vincent Mireles, Lawrence, KS; ex-husband, Fernando Gama, East Palo Alto, CA; her companion, Daniel Hernandez; of Lawrence, KS; aunts & uncles, Natalie & Francisco Estrada, Lawrence, KS; Rose & Mark Bunton, No. Carolina; Joseph M. Rodriguez, CA; 10 cousins, 11 nieces & nephews; her best friend, Blanca Vazquez of East Palo Alto, CA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lupe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

My dear friend Rachel Gama, I miss you so so much. There will NEVER be another friend like you. The years have passed yet the pain is the same as the day when God gave you your angel wings. I hope that when I die you are there at heavens gate waiting for me with those beautiful green eyes and that big smile that never left your beautiful face even as you where taking your last breath. I love you my lela and I want you to know that even though I dont see the girls as often as wanted and their has been some conflicts I will always be there for them in their time of need as promised.
My querida amiga Rachel Gama, te extraño tanto. Nunca habra otra amiga como tu. Los años han pasado mas el dolor es igual a aquel dia que el Señor te dio tus alas de angel. Mi esperanza es que cuando yo muera tu estes en las puertas del cielo esperandome con esos hermosos ojos verdes y esa bella sonrisa que nunca se aparto de tu linda cara aun mientras tomabas tu ultimo suspiro. Te amo mi lela y quiero que sepas que aunque no veo a las niñas tanto como me gustaria y an avido conflictos yo siempre estare ahi con ellas en su tiempo de necesidad como te lo prometi.
