Marie Doleman

Funeral services for Marie Y. Doleman, 81, Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at First Regular Missionary Baptist Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. She passed away Monday, March 11, 2019 at her home.

Marie was born on October 14, 1937 in Arcola, Mississippi daughter of Willie and Mary Ruth (Johnson) Murry.

Marie accepted Christ at an early age in Arcola, MS.

Marie graduated from Arcola High School. She married Aaron Doleman Jr. on September 8, 1956 in Greenville, MS. In this marriage four children were born, Aaron III, Vera, Joyce and Michael.

Marie held multiple jobs, working at Arcola Headstart in Arcola, MS, Callins Industry, Hollandale, MS and Farm Fresh Catfish, Co. in Hollandale, MS where she retired.

She was gifted in quilting, crafting and loved gardening, canning and talking.

She moved to Lawrence, KS in 1999 and joined First Regular Missionary Baptist Church in 2000 where she was a faithful member until she departed this life. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael “Big Mike” D. Doleman in 2009; and her great granddaughter, Shaterika Doleman in 2013.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Aaron Doleman, Jr.; son, Aaron Doleman III; two daughters, Vera Doleman, Joyce (Marty) Williams all of Lawrence, KS; six sisters, Atlene McNeely, St. Louis, Arlene Price, Greenville, MS, Rubertha Dickson, St. Louis, MO, Mary Ruth Bennett, Greenville, MS, Margaret Murry, Arcola, MS and Willie B. Murry, Greenwood, MS; seven brothers, Willie (Bertha) Murry, Greenville, MS, I.C. (Jessie) Murry, James (Mary) Murry, Charles (Lynda) Murry, Anthony (Creola) Murry, Troy Murry and Ronald Murry, all of Arcola, MS; a very special daughter-in-law, Nazaree Doleman, Lawrence, KS; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to DaVita Lawrence Dialysis and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at the church.

    Sympathy to you all for Marie’s loss. She will be missed by all who knew her. She made me smile everyday I was lucky enough to care for her. She readily gave love in return. May you find comfort in your memories. It was an honor to have known her these last 10 years.
