Funeral services for Margaret Alein (Coffman) Schellack, 95, Lawrence will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. She died January 5, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 15, 1915 in LeLoup, Kansas the daughter of Charles W. and Zennobia “Zennie” (Seyler) Coffman. Margaret grew up in the Pleasant Vally Community attending Pleasant Valley and Wellsville Schools.
She married Robert V. Schellack on May 6, 1934 at the Methodist Church in Wellsville, Kansas. They lived on a farm outside of Eudora, growing melons as well as farm crops. During and after the war she was and inspector for Sunflower Ordinance. The flood of 1951 nearly devasted their home, not long after they built a new home North of Eudora. During the early 1960’s Maggie went to Cosmetology School in Topeka, KS and then operated a Beauty Shop out of her home for several years. When Bob became ill she devoted her time to him as caregiver, after he died she remained on the farm unitl June of 2009 she moved to Bridge Haven Home, where she lived until she died.
She was preceded her in death by her husband on April 5, 2000. She was also preceded in death by parents, four sisters, Etta, Eva, Mildred and Josephine; two brothers, Kenneth and Lester.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held an hour prior to service at the mortuary.
