Luis P. Mendoza, Sr.

Funeral services for Luis P. Mendoza, Sr. 64, Lawrence will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. He passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in KC, MO.

Luis was born on April 25, 1954 in Lawrence, Kansas the son of Manuel and Maria (Jaminez) Mendoza.

He was a Sanitation Driver for the City of Lawrence.

He married Helen E. Auten on June 22, 1972 in Lawrence, Kansas. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son, Luis (Tammy) Mendoza Jr., sisters; Isabel (Tavy) Vargas, Corina (Izzy) Bermudez, Ernie (Candido) Guerrerro, Rose Carmona, Jenny Pantoja, Gloria Ming-Mendoza, Rita (Luis) Melendez, Mary (Donnie) Ming, Anita (Julio) Coyote, Hope Mendoza, brother, Rick Mendoza, grandchildren; Ciera Gillis, Domonic Mendoza, Haley Weeks, Tayiah Mendoza, Morgan Mendoza, great-grandchildren, Cameron Gillis, Esme Mead and Kyden Mendoza.

Luis was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sonia Mendoza-Foster and brothers, Ruben, Antonio and Robert Mendoza.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 ~ 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the family to help with funeral expenses and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
