Louis Dornberger

 

Memorial services for Louis C. Dornberger, 70, Clearview City, KS, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Church of the Nazarene in McLouth, KS.  Inurnment with military services will be in the McLouth Cemetery.  He died November 22, 2009 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

He was born January 1, 1939 in Manchester, Kansas, the son of Chester and Ruby (Moyer) Dornberger.

He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and continued his service for 22 years.  Since he retired from the Army, he worked at Packer Plastics for eight years and also for McElhaney Fence Company.

He was a life member of De Soto VFW Post #6654.  He enjoyed restoring Ford Mustangs and growing roses.  He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching his daughter show horses.

He married Anne Nowak on December 13, 1975 in Abilene, Kansas.  She survives of the home. 

Other survivors include his daughter, Lea Huber and husband, Jon of DeSoto, KS; a son, Staff Sgt. Paul Dornberger and wife, Diana of Hoisington, KS; adopted daughters,  DeLinda Sims, Kilgore, TX; Kelly Baumberger and husband, Rod, Wichita, KS; adopted son, Darrell Elliott, Flower Mound, TX; one brother, John Dornberger, Salina, KS; a sister, Edna Raab, Abilene, KS; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials in his name to V.F.W. Post #6654 in DeSoto and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
