Leo Wenger

Family graveside services for Leo Benjamin Wenger were held September 18th, 2020 in Lecompton, Kansas.

A Celebration of Life for Leo will be held at a later date for family and friends.

Leo passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at his home. He was 92 years of age.

Leo was born on February 25, 1928 in Bern, KS, the son of Benjamin and Anna(Brunner)Wenger.

He was a shift supervisor for Farmland Fertilizer Plant in Lawrence, Kansas where he worked for 33 years.

He married Peggy Milton on February 23, 1958 in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home.

After retiring from Farmland, Leo and Peggy raised and showed American Quarter Horses.

Leo and Peggy also cared for their 3 surviving parents in their home during their last years of life.

Leo enjoyed hunting and fishing, working with animals and spending time in nature. Later in life he took joy in watching the birds and wildlife on his property in Lecompton, Kansas.

He especially valued spending time with his family whether it was spent playing cards, eating meals together or telling funny stories and sharing happy memories.

He was an exemplar of compassion and love. We will always remember his laughter and love.

Other survivors include his children; Pamela (Charles Wurtz) Karns, Peggy Jo (Ralph) Hudson, Patrick (Theresa) Wenger, Laura (Ronald) Barnes, Paula (John Falley) Wenger and his 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Visiting Nursing Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
