Leland Grant Massey

A Celebration of Life for Leland Grant Massey, 88, Eudora, will be held from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel.  Leland passed away March 2, 2025, at KU Medical Center.

Leland was born May 11, 1936 in Eudora, the son of Lester Leland and Eula Etta Reusch Massey.  He was a lifelong Eudora resident graduating from Eudora High School in 1954 and served in the US Army.

Leland was a truck driver for USI for many years.  He enjoyed participating in truck rodeos where he won numerous driving awards.  He was also a self-taught auctioneer, conducting many farm and estate auctions in the area.  In addition, he did many charity auctions through the years.  Leland was a long-time girls softball coach as well as Babe Ruth and Little League coach in the Eudora community.

Leland married Wilma “Jane” Armstong on October 3, 1956, in Oahu, Hawaii.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane; daughter, Stacy: brother, Harold Massey and his wife, Joyce; brother, Robert “Bob” Massey; granddaughter, Jessica Massey Robson; nephew, Mitch Massey.  He is survived by his son, Kenny (Diane) Massey, Eudora; three grandchildren, Robyn Keiter, Kansas City, MO; Jerrod (Hollie) Massey, Yuma, CO; Cole (Katie) Massey, Kansas City, MO; four great grandchildren, Rylie Robson, Mason Massey, Carter Massey, Mays Massey; sister-in-law, Rettalou Massey; nephews, Bob Massey, Mark Tams; niece, Shari Eichenberger; niece in-law, Cathy Massey; cousins, Holly Kracl and Hal Reusch.  Leland is also survived by his faithful cat, Tom, along with friends and extended family members.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Eudora Food Pantry and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  Online condolences may be sent to warrenmcelwain.com.
