Lauren Rose Gammon

“Memorial mass for Lauren Rose Gammon, 31, Lawrence, KS will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence, with a visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. Lauren passed away February 5, 2025, at LMH Health.

Lauren was born September 27, 1993, in Merriam, KS, the daughter of Colleen Gammon.

Lauren went straight from high school and received her nursing degree at the age of 22. Her first job was at Olathe Medical Center ICU for approximately 7 years, and she then started traveling as a nurse and worked in North Carolina and Louisiana (New Orleans). Longing for home, Lauren returned to Lawrence in 2022 and was currently working for Bright Star Home Health Care.

Her compassion brought comfort and healing to all of her patients, and she continued that legacy by being an organ doner.

Lauren was a great cook and loved preparing gourmet meals for her family and friends. Her famous cheeseball was a family favorite every Christmas.

Lauren’s cats, Miles and Ravioli, brought her endless comfort and joy, and were her constant companions, even going with her on her travel nursing journey.

Lauren loved traveling anywhere there was a beach or ocean, collecting numerous seashells.

Lauren is survived by her mother, brother, Nathan Gammon, aunts and uncles, Julie Farrell, Shelley Farrell, John Farrell, Brian Farrell, great aunt and uncle, Alice and Calvin Smith, and cousins, Heather Cooper, Alyssa Langford, and Raymond Langford.

Lauren was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack and Rosemary Farrell, Luther and Jenette Gammon.

The family suggests memorials in Lauren’s name to Lawrence Humane Society or Bert Nash and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary 120 W. 13th St. Lawrence, KS  66044.

Lauren lived her life to the fullest with passion and pride. She will be missed beyond measure by her family and all those who loved her.”

Colleen and Nathan, I was your neighbor when the girls were in their youth, how I long to have those days back as time has passed too quickly and although there are many many memories to show for the time passed, it still seems like it wasn’t long ago we were taking the girls to the movies or the mall or some school function to burn off their child energy! I’ve watched Lauren over the years blossom into the most beautiful woman and genuinely kind hearted person, thinking she is just like her momma! It’s always made me smile , have always been so grateful the girls have carried their close bond throughout their lives! Their story, Laurens story and legacy to be there for others and to make their life’s better, will never be forgotten, yet, she was an inspiration and a perfect influence for others trying to be an amazing person!
She will never be replaced or forgotten, in fact, her memory will live on forever.
Sending love, prayers for your peace.
