Laura Baldwin

The Mass of Christian Burial for Laura Christine Baldwin, 30, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence, KS.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence.  She passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born on November 17, 1981 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Steven R. Millikan and Linda Sue Franklin Millikan.

Laura attended schools in Overland Park and graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School.  She was a graduate in civil engineering at the University of Kansas in 2004.  She worked for a time as a civil engineer for Burns and McDonnell. Later, she received the Professional Engineer certification and licensing.

She was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church and a MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) Group in Lawrence.

She married Jacob C. Baldwin on June 24, 2006 in Lawrence, KS.  He survives of the home.  Also their sons, Connor J. Baldwin and Colter B. Baldwin, of the home.

Other survivors include, her father, Steven Millikan of Olathe, KS, her mother, Linda Harker (husband, Alex), of Jackson Hole, WY.  She is also survived by a sister, Brandyn Ford (husband, Ethan), and their children; Avery, Huntley and Madelyn,of Leawood, KS. She is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, Ken and Kathie Baldwin, of Lawrence, KS and a brother-in-law, Josh (wife, Melanie) and their daughter, Kyra of Overbrook, KS.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the Platelet Disorder Support Association or to the LMH Endowment Association for Transfusion Rooms and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

    Although we only came into touch briefly with Laura during various stages of her life, she was always curious,witty,enchanting and full of life.
    Laura’s spark and vitality will be missed.

    I only met Laura a few times, but she always seemed to have a smile that went from ear to ear and a wonderful glint in her eye that let you know she was full of life. I am very glad to have known her no matter how briefly… my Condolences to both Steve and Linda.
