Larry A. Folks

Larry A. Folks of Mesquite, Nevada, passed away on July 21, 2021 at the age of 75. Larry was born February 9, 1946 in Lawrence, Kansas to Richard E. Folks Sr. and Elsie Folks Moore. Larry grew up in Eudora, Kansas and graduated from Eudora High School in 1963 and attended the University of Kansas. Larry moved to Colorado and spent many years of his life building an amazing life in Colorado Springs. Upon retirement he moved to Mesquite, Nevada. Larry loved spending time with family and friends and as an avid golfer could often be found on the golf course or talking of his love of sports. (especially the Kansas Jayhawks, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals) . Larry was always the life of the party and lit up a room whenever he entered it and he will be missed greatly.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Lori Michalak (Matt) of Colorado Springs and their children Brooke, Bethany and Addison; his son Chris Putzi (Carol) of Colorado Springs and their children, Jeff and Heather and his great grandchildren; his sister Janet Gabriel (Mark) of Eudora, Kansas; his sister Mary Jane Church (Orville) of Lawrence, Kansas. He is survived by 18 nieces and nephews and many friends who he shared countless memories with. Larry is preceded in death by his parents Richard E. Folks Sr., Elsie Folks Moore, his daughter Dena Marie, his brothers Richard Folks Jr. and Kenneth Folks.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am on Saturday August 7, 2021 at Warren McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel in Eudora, Kansas. We will also hold a Celebration of Life in Colorado Springs for friends and family on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 6:00-9:00pm at the Cordera Community Center so friends and family can honor him through stories and memories.

    I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing Sincere condolences and prayers sent to all of his family.
    Larry was dear friend of mine for a long time. Many good times, on and off the golf course. A short note to his family, and his many friends.
    May all his loving memories, and all the good times with Larry, which we all enjoyed, remind us that we too will join him some day (Hopefully not too soon) so that we can rejoice with him..
