Memorial service for Katherine “Kate” Ann Stafford, 68, Lawrence will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Mrs. Stafford died on June 12, 2009, at her home.
She has been a resident of Lawrence since 1971.
She was born on December 20, 1940, in Albia, Iowa, the daughter of August Louis and Ethel Elizabeth McVittie Lennie.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Albia, Iowa. She worked as an assembler for Kantronics for over 15 years; retiring in 2004.
She married Alfred Earl Stafford on December 23, 1958, in Albia, Iowa. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Keith Michael, and wife, Karen, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Jeffery Scott, of the home; one daughter, Kathleen Lynne Griffin, and husband, John, Baldwin City, KS; seven grandchildren, Forrest, Lance, Tehya, Kayleb, Chad, Matt, and Reagan. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Tammi, and Grandson, Brandon.
The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday,
June 14, 2009, at the Mortuary.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her name to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care and sent in care of the mortuary.
