Julia was born August 17, 1948 in Richmond, VA the daughter of John Westfall and Jane (Selecman) Morrison.

She graduated from Woodbridge Senior High in Woodbridge, VA. She received a Bachelor of Art in Education from Baker University and Master’s degrees in both Gifted Education and Counseling from Emporia State University.

She was a long-time member of Vinland United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she spoiled them with love and treats and looked forward to each opportunity to be with them. She dutifully attended their numerous activities and was their greatest supporter. She was an extremely talented artist who spent the years when her children were young raising them and creating precious works of art. When she was even younger, she enjoyed playing guitar and could even been found on the softball field. She had a beautiful singing voice which she used to lift up the Lord, sing to her babies, and even rock out to some oldies. She had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. She savored all of life. She loved jewelry, art, good food, and sweet treats. Her ceaseless love extended to her beloved dogs, and she leaves one, Parker, behind, and she is now reunited with many others. She loved being a mother and her motherly love extended to many beyond just her daughters. Many called her Mom.

She touched the lives of so many students in her years of teaching. She taught art and secondary gifted education. She also spent several years working as a Mary Kay consultant and even became a director leading her own team, Judy’s Shining Stars.

She was joined in marriage to Cleon Musgrave in June of 1970 and the marriage produced her two daughters before ending in 1987. She was also married to Greg Cooper from 1994-2005.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kenna and husband, Jeremy Fries, Eudora,Wendy Canaday and husband, Tim, Lawrence; five grandchildren, Julianna (John) Haller, Janelle Fries, Tyler Canaday, Tia Canaday, and Jackson Fries; sisters, Linda (Dave) Douglas, Jacksonville, NC, Carol (Ginny) Morrison, Dandridge, TN; and one brother, John “Jack” (Sheryl) Morrison, Elizabethtown, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Tressa Jane Canaday.

The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, November 9th at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Kenna, Wendy, and your families, Thinking of you and wishing you moments of peace and comfort as you remember your mom and grandma. Loved reading what you wrote about her, especially the singing to the oldies, using her voice to lift up the Lord, and rocking to the oldies! Also, it is very sweet that many called her Mom. In that spirit, may memories of Mom ease your grief. Love and sympathy, Alexandra
