Josephine Monica Ramirez

Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Ramirez, 89, Lawrence, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6001 Bob Billings Parkway, Lawrence, Kansas 66049. Masks required. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. She passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at her home.

Josephine was born on May 4, 1931 in Reno, KS the daughter of Anarbol and Theodora (Araujo) Vega.

She married Thomas Ramirez, Sr. on October 1, 1949 in Topeka, KS. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2019.

Survivors include her three daughters, Gloria (Bill) Riley, Lawrence, Cynthia (Bill) Naff, Berryton, KS, Rose (Mike) Hadl, Lawrence; son, Thomas (Vicki) Ramirez, Jr., Lawrence; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Vega, Sr., Irvine, CA, Jesus Vega, Jacksonville, FL and one sister, Phyllis Allen, Mesa, AZ. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Monica Ramirez.

A viewing will take place at 10 a.m. with a Rosary to follow at 10:30 a.m. prior to the mass at 11 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Elara Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

    My thoughts and prayer’s are with family in this time of loss! Josephine was a sweet , sweet lady whom I had the pleasure of working with at the Union for many years. I know how much she loved family and friends and I share in the loss of this beautiful lady! God Bless!

    To the entire family: May the memories of this beautiful woman always warm your hearts. I was blessed to have known her and loved her as my own family. She treated everyone as they were here family. Not too many people are lucky enough in their lives to know such a woman and such a kind and loving family. I am blessed to have known her. RIP.
