Jorgen G. Hansen, 92, Lawrence, formerly of Middletown, CT, died peacefully on December 7, 2009 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar. The family is planning private services.
He was born on July 23, 1917 in Copenhagen, Denmark the son of Ejnar and Ebba Andresen Hansen. He received a degree in architecture from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and worked there as a young man.
He married Fritze Steffesen on August 4, 1944 and they immigrated to the United States in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1981. Jorgen was self employed as a graphic designer, furniture designer and piano designer. He spent many years living in Middletown, CT before moving to Lawrence in 2004 to be closer to his family.
Survivors include his son, Peter and daughter-in-law, Gail of Lawrence and two grandchildren, Christian and Dana. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Community Theater where Jorgen spent many enjoyable evenings, or to the Employee Recognition Fund at Brandon Woods, care of McElwain Mortuary.
