Jimmy Lee Dick

 

A Celebration of Life for Jimmy Lee Dick, 71, Lawrence will be held at a later date.

Jimmy passed away on January 16, 2022, at his home in Lawrence from Cancer.

Jimmy was born on September 6, 1950, in Topeka, KS the son of James and Dorothy (Viles) Dick.

He graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka, KS.

He worked for 47 years as a fire equipment service technician.

Jimmy was a great fisherman and enjoyed hot rods.

He married Velda Pierson on December 14, 1968, in Lawrence, KS. They were married for 53 years; she survives of the home with their three dogs.

The family suggests memorials in Jimmy’s name to Lawrence Humane Society or to the VNA Hospice and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary 120 w. 13th St. Lawrence, KS  66044.

    Velda, we’re so very sorry for your loss. Our hearts are breaking with you. Jimmy was one of the good guys who left way too early. He had a great smile and was always ready to help with anything (because he could do just about everything!) He was a good friend and will be missed. May he finally rest in peace.

    So sorry to hear of Jim’s passing, I worked with Jim on a weekly basis for several years when he was servicing the fire equipment at FMC. He was always very friendly and had time to visit and enjoy life , he will be missed.

    Velda, there are no words that can take away the heaviness your heart is feeling now. Jimmy was Johns best friend and I loved him with my whole heart. He was such a great guy, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t or wouldn’t do for anyone. He truly loved you and you could see it with everything he did. He left this earth way to soon.     Steve and I are so sad to hear of Jimmy’s illness and passing. We are fairly new friends but have known who the two of you were for years, sharing close friends. We had so much fun in Mexico with you guys. Jimmy showed how much he loved you and life. He was a happy pleasant person to be with. I wish I could say more to help with your loss.
