Jeannette Pearl Perkins Olin

Jeannette Pearl Perkins Olin passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019, at Bridge Haven Nursing Home, Lawrence, Kansas.

Jeannette was born on September 15, 1925, in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Delbert W. and Rhoda (McLean) Perkins. She attended Lawrence schools, and graduated from Lawrence High School. Jeannette graduated from the University of Kansas in the Class of 1947 with a degree in occupational therapy. She was a member of the Kansas University Marching Band and Sigma Kappa sorority. Sigma Kappa recognized her with a Diamond Award this year for her 75 year association with the sorority. After graduate work at the Menninger’s Institute in Topeka, Kansas, she accepted a position with the R. J. Delano School for Crippled Children in Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked for 39 years.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Ron (Sylvie) Olin, daughter Dr. Sara (Ward) Zimmerman, grandchildren: Ward A. (Sarah) Zimmerman, Brian N. (Nga) Zimmerman, Zachary S. (Karen) Zimmerman, Dr. Elizabeth B (Matt) Livingood, and eight great grandchildren.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Olin, son, Thomas Richard Olin, and brother, Delbert Perkins.

Memorial services are pending. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St. Lawrence, Kansas 66044.

    Very sorry to learn of your mother’s passing. She was quite a caring person. I’d forgotten how she drove into KC for her work. I know how much you miss her. You were blessed to have her in your lives so many years. Wishing you peace and love and all the wonderful memories you have with her.
