Jamie Lynne Skinner

Gorgeous girl, beautiful soul. Jamie Lynne Skinner peacefully left her body on Sunday, March 28, 2021. Born July 5, 1990, in Lawrence, Kansas, Jamie attended St. John Catholic School, South Jr. High, graduated from Lawrence High School, and attended the University of Kansas.

Jamie, fearlessly chose to be herself. She loved acting & film, animals, beauty & fashion, ice skating, and was an avid reader, her favorite book series being Harry Potter. Jamie enjoyed outdoor adventures to the lakes surrounding Lawrence, spots with peaceful places to read or to take her many furry friends to play. A favorite pastime was cruising in her black convertible, top down on a sunny day, mellowing in good tunes. Jamie’s greatest gift was her generous heart and the light she brought to every person she encountered, always desiring to help others feel loved and safe.

Jamie loved her family and friends. Her sister, Gina Skinner, mother, Stacy Williamson Keeling, father and stepmother, Jim & Lynn Skinner, and grandmother, Lorena Williamson, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends miss her dearly. As Jamie and Bob Dylan would say, “All I can do is be me, whoever that is.”

A private service is planned. The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society or Prairie Paws, Ottawa and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

I went to school with Jamie. During those adolescent years, when nobody quite knows who they are or who they will become, she embraced each new iteration of me with an open mind, and that was always such great comfort as I struggled through some difficult times. I hope I can reflect some small fraction of that comfort back to her loved ones now by letting them know that I still carry that Spark of Jamie that she shared simply by being Jamie, and that I try to share that Spark with others whenever I can. I am so sorry for your loss and you have my utmost sympathy, inadequate as it may be.

I am so sad and heartbroken. Jamie was such a free spirit. Her theatrics brought me so much laughter and joy. I will always cherish the nights we stayed up late in her tiny apartment talking and laughing. And I will always remember the way she made me feel. She made me feel heard and she would validate every emotion I felt. She made me feel like I was a truly special and unique individual. And she gave the best hugs. She will be so so missed. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.

Sending love and light Gina,Stacy, Jim and Lynn. I have so many memories from hanging out with Gina. Jamie always like a little sister wanted to be right where Gina was. I remember Jamie being so funny and I distinctly remember one time Gina & I working on something for school and she wanted to hangout with us and we of course told her we were busy to leave us be and she put that hand on her one hip and the other one was just twirling her hair she said fine ….. I’m telling mom (lol) Sending love and light and all positive vibrations to you all and all of Jamie’s friend.

I have wonderful memories with Jamie from Highschool. I knew Jamie from being on the cheer squad with her, and we shared some awesome moments of practice, competitions, cheer camp and Friday night lights. Jamie was a beautiful person inside and out. She will be very missed. Will be praying for her family.
