Funeral services for Dennis R. Anderson, 62, Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. September 12, 2016 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. He passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Dennis was born April 21, 1954 in McPherson, KS the son of Robert and Betty (Schmitt) Anderson.
He was a member of the Power of the Past Antique Engine & Tractor Association – Ottawa.
He had a tremendous sense of humor and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, antique tractors, and traveling. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather; and was passionate about his grandkids.
He worked in the maintenance department and was a machinist at Allen Press for 10 years.
He married Shirley Shirk February 22, 1985 in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his son, Lawrence Trowbridge and wife, Jeniffer, Oskaloosa, KS; daughter, Julie Van Zandt and husband, Glenn, Gladstone, MO; grandchildren, Audrey and Austin Trowbridge, Jillian and Rachel Van Zandt; sister, Sharon Kay Anderson, Hutchison, KS; and brothers, Duane Anderson and wife, Betty, Winfield, KS and Sheldon Anderson and wife, Sharon Ann, Little River, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the mortuary.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Power of the Past Antique Engine & Tractor Association – Ottawa or Lawrence Memorial Hospital – Oncology Department and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
