Ivan M. Percival

Graveside service for Ivan M. Percival, 94, Lawrence, KS will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence, KS. Ivan passed away February 18, 2025, at his home.

Ivan was born July 20, 1930, in Lonestar, KS, the son of Melvin Roscoe and Tilda (Campbell) Percival.

Ivan married Leta Mae Hodges on June 10, 1961, in Lawrence, KS and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2011.

Ivan is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer Weible and husband, Mike, Gaye Nicholson, Jolene Janak and husband, Michael, one son, Steven Conner and wife, Connie, nine grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Ivan was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Melvin (Marion) Percival, and Eugene (Judy) Percival.

Ivan grew up working on the family farm, milking cows and helping his father during his high school years.  Ivan learned to be a mechanic and drive semi-trucks at early age and worked for Holton Transport, eventually running the Lawrence branch.  After Ivan married Leta Mae and now having 4 children to support, he began working for Shaw Auto Service until he started his own business, Ivan’s 19th St. Phillips 66 at 19th and Massachusetts in Lawrence.  He retired in 1992 and enjoyed camping and traveling with Leta Mae in their RV.  Later, Ivan drove a dump truck parttime for Dale Coffman because of his love for work.  Ivan loved his family so much and was always ready to help with anything if needed.  Ivan was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

The family will greet friends, 6:00 ~ 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2025, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in Ivan’s name to VNA Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary 120 W. 13th St. Lawrence, KS  66044.
