Ida “Lee” Cox Mosley

Ida “Lee” Cox Mosley, formerly of Lawrence, passed away on Christmas morning, December 25, 2021, in El Dorado Hills, California. Services will be held on Saturday, February 19th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1229 Vermont St, Lawrence, KS. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, followed by inurnment at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Lee was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and lived and attended school in Uniontown, PA, one of five children of Sebastian and Balbina Puleo. After completing her education she moved to Washington, DC. While working in the Pentagon she met and married her first husband, Dwight H. Cox. As a military spouse she followed her husband to duty assignments across the nation and after his retirement from the US Navy, settled in Lawrence, KS where she raised their family. She worked at McGrew Real Estate and then in the office of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church from 1977-1998. She moved from Lawrence to Topeka when she married the light of her life, Bill “Coach” Mosley of Topeka, in March of 1999. Mrs. Mosley lived in Topeka until October, 2017 and then moved to Napa, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Rosemarie Puleo Paull, her three brothers Frank, Charles and Anthony Puleo, her husband Bill Mosley and grandson Nich Reeb of Topeka.

She is survived by her children Barbara Cox Cosentino O’Meara (George) of El Dorado Hills, CA, Dwight Cox, Jr. of Fremont, CA, Laura Cox Weeks (Jake) of Lawrence, KS, stepchildren Kristi Mosley Reeb (Bart), Topeka, KS and Kurt Mosley (Susan), Benton, AR.  Lee’s surviving grandchildren are Kimberly Cosentino Wright (Josh), Kirby O’Meara, Kevin O’Meara, Victoria Cox Noble (Steve), all of California, and Zach Reeb, Washington. Four great-grandchildren-Luca and Evelyn Noble, and Brody and London Wright, all of California.

While in Kansas she was a Parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, The Altar Society and Christ the King Parish in Topeka. She was known for her quick wit, unrivaled Italian cooking, legendary dinner parties, impeccable style, decades of dance moves and a smile that lit up the room. She was happiest surrounded by her large, extended family and her multitude of life-long friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, her “whole heart.” Lee is missed and loved beyond measure by all who knew her on this earth. She left us with the greatest gift of all-her unwavering Catholic faith, love of Christ and confident knowledge that with His Grace we will be reunited one day.

    I remember Lee from Daughters of Isabella.
