Helen Lagene Perkins

Funeral services for Helen Lagene Perkins, 86, Olathe, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.

Helen passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Hoeger Hospice House in Olathe, KS.

Helen was born April 22, 1933 in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Richard Jr. and Edna Avella (Patterson) Nightengale.

She was a tremendous wife, mother, and grandmother that loved her family. She enjoyed planting flowers, especially roses. Her family remembers her house always immaculate and her delicious home cooked meals.

She married Richard L. Perkins on December 14, 1948 in Ottawa, KS. He survives of the home. They were married almost 71 years.

Other survivors include her daughters, Stella A. Clevenger, Corinth, TX; Sharon L. Samuels, Olathe, KS; five grandchildren, Tom (Justin Silk) McCall, Jr., Bill (Marci) Breshears, Stephanie (Kevin) Joles, Kelly (Nick) Frederickson, Nolan (Katie) Samuels; eight great grandchildren, Travis Frederickson, Ryan Breshears, Danielle Frederickson, Spencer Frederickson, Kinzley Joles, Kason Joles, Easton Samuels, Ty Samuels; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Breshears. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra A. Breshears, grandson, Richard Breshears; her brother and three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Alzheimer’s Association and other Related Disorders and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

    Tiny and Sharon, I was so sorry to see you had lost your mom, and so soon after losing Sandy and her son. It seems like yesterday I saw you for the loss of Sandy.
