Memorial service for Helen Jane Whitlock Davis, 96, Lawrence, formerly of Neodesha, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Interment will be at Neodesha Cemetery at a later date under the direction of Loran Fawcett Funeral Home, Neodesha, KS.
Helen died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born on April 2, 1913, in McFarland, Wabaunsee County, KS, the daughter of Wilbur Simpson and Hulda (Clements) Whitlock.
She and her husband were lifelong residents of Wilson County, KS. Helen was an accomplished seamstress.
She married Cecil Wayne Davis on December 23, 1933, in Melvern, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Prof. John C. Davis and wife, Jo Anne DeGraffenreid, Baldwin City, KS; two grandsons, Eric Whitlock Davis, Seville, Spain, Kurt Wiley Davis and wife, Cynthia, and one step-grandson, Thomas Kellogg and Sheri Holmes, all of Lawrence. She is survived by niece and two nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two younger sisters, and a brother.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Heart of America Hospice and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
