Funeral services for HELEN A. WONNELL, 85, Lawrence, will be Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. She died Friday, July 17, 2009 at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab in Baldwin, KS. She had been a resident of Lawrence since moving here from DeSoto in the late 1950’s.
Helen was born February 23, 1924 in Michigan, the daughter of Fred and Anna Ballor.
She married Charles C. Wonnell on January 17, 1951 at Mt. Clements, MI. He preceded
her in death on January 26, 1998.
Survivors include: two daughters, Patricia A. Miller, Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Sharon R. Gunther, Lawrence; one sister, Lois Cohn, Virginia; three grandchildren, John C. Miller, Brooklyn, NY, Lori Anna Wilken, San Carlos, CA and Corinne S. Rice, Lawrence; and four great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, at the Mortuary. Memorials in her name may be made to the Family Church of Lawrence and sent in care of the mortuary.
