Harriet C. Bregman

Harriet C. Bregman, 97, Lawrence, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community. Harriet moved into Pioneer Ridge Independent Living in 2017. She told her family that she was so grateful and happy to be living there and that she loved her life there.

Harriet was born on March 3, 1924, in Norfolk, Virginia, the daughter of Maurice and Sara (Silverman) Cogen.

She married Arnold “Bud” Bregman on September 1, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia. He preceded her in death in March 2005.

Harriet held several positions as an administrative assistant before retiring to New Port Richey, Florida. In retirement, she learned to play golf so she could spend more time with her husband, Bud, who was an avid golfer. She later served as president of the Magnolia Valley Homeowners Association where she also served as liaison to local government.

Survivors include two sons, Larry (Adeane) Bregman (Brunswick, Georgia) and Marty (Nancy) Bregman (Lawrence, Kansas); grandchildren, Joshua (Rebecca) Bregman, Rachael, Scott, and Jeff (Sarah) Bregman, and great-grandchildren Sam, Alexis, Jack, Lilith, Logan, and Liam Bregman; and sister, Marian Leavitt, Norfolk, Virginia. Harriet was preceded in death by her brother, Erwin Cogen.

Harriet’s family wants to thank the staff at Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living, especially Tina Taylor. Harriet’s family also sends many thanks to Inspire Hospice for their kind and loving care during the past month.

A Zoom memorial service for Harriet will be held at a later date.
