Gertrude Jane (Toll) Hogle, age 101, died 12/24/2020. Mrs. Hogle was born 8/24/1919, the daughter of Harry & Alice Toll, in Berlin, WI. A graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Milwaukee, she served three years in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during WW II. Her assignments included hospital ships and station hospitals in the Pacific theater. She was honorably discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant.
On March 2, 1946 she married William L Hogle at Ripon, WI. They resided in Berkeley, CA; Topeka, Burlingame and, since 1963, Lawrence, KS. In addition to being a devoted Mother & homemaker, Mrs. Hogle worked as an RN at the VA Hospital in Topeka and at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include sons Bruce of Leawood, KS & Greg of Denver, CO, daughters Teresa Ronsse of Watsonville, CA & Susan Stahl of Lawrence, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial will be held at the cemetery in Burlingame, KS at 2 p.m. on 01/02/2021. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Hogle requested that any donations be directed to the Douglas Co. Hospice Care and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary 120 W. 13th St. Lawrence, KS 66044.
