Funeral services for Evelyn Loretta Kimball, 93, Lawrence will be held at First Regular Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11:00am. Mrs. Kimball went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. The family will greet friends from 7 – 9pm Thursday, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Evelyn Kimball was born February 10th, 1917 in Streeter, IL the daughter of Moses and Ada Washington Walker.
Growing up she attended school in the Lawrence Public School system. Evelyn worked for Rusty’s IGA for many years and retired to pursue home daycare. As a home daycare provider, she was known to many as “Grandma”. She was the oldest member of First Regular Missionary Baptist Church.
She married Harold “Jackie” Kimball, Sr. in Lawrence, Kansas in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1976. She is survived by three daughters, Clara Friend of Topeka, Freida Green and Carolyn Kimball of Lawrence; one son, Carroll Kimball and wife Carol of Lawrence; 19 Grandchildren 45 Great-Grandchildren, 33 Great Great Children and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Simpson, three brothers, Glen Walker, Charles Walker and William Walker, two daughters, Joyce Johnson and Ellen Thompson, two sons, Herbert “Marvin” Simpson and Harold Kimball, Jr. , two grandchildren, Ryan and Sherye Green.
Final resting place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to First Regular Missionary Baptist Church and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

To the family of Sis. Evelyn Kimball;I was truly sadden by the homegoing of mother Kimball.She was a wonderful person and a dear friend.my family and i wish to give you this message.God has her in his kingdom,she is smiling at all us.She will be missed but never forgotten.
Mother Kimball will be remembered by her smile as well as finger pointed at all of us.I will truly miss her.May god bless the entire family,today! Keep your eyes on the prize.
