Funeral services for Dwight “Dee” R. Perry, Jr., 53, Lawrence will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Lawrence Free Methodist Church in Lawrence. Private Burial will take place at a later date. Dee passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at his home.
Dee was born October 28, 1964 in Lawrence, KS the son of Dwight R. Perry, Sr. and Barbara (Robbins) Perry.
He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1983.
After high school, Dee worked as a contractor and concrete foreman with JR Construction and then went on to work with his father in the home building business before venturing out on his own. Perry Construction, Inc. was formed in 1998 and Dee was currently building homes in the Fairfield Farms subdivision in Lawrence. Known to be a hard worker he took great pride in doing much of the work himself.
He was a member of the Lawrence Home Builders Association (LHBA) where he served as a past president and served on the Board of Directors. He and his family also served together as mentors in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. When he wasn’t working, Dee enjoyed jet skiing, boating, fishing, and woodworking. He was a true family man, always putting them before himself. The words “love you” flowed often.
Dee married Kara Olson October 21, 1989 in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his son Dylan Perry; two daughters, Emma Perry, Meghan Perry, all of the home; parents Dwight and Barbara Perry and sisters, Bobbie Flory, Lawrence, and Mendy Robson, Ada, OK.
The family will greet friends and family from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Perry Education Fund at Mid America Bank or in his name to a charity of donor’s choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
To know sorrow is to acknowledge the love that was yours. To heal, day by day, is to build a bridge of love that will reach far beyond time into forever. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. If you need to talk about your husband or dad I’ve known him along time and loved him as a son. Take good care of you. Sympathy for your family.

So sorry to hear of Dee’s passing. Dee always had a smile on his face when I would come in contact with him. Myself and our company had the honor to provide him with fireplaces in his homes he built. I remember taking Dee to Las Vegas with other homebuilders from the Lawrence area years ago. We had a fun time. He was great to be around and will be sorely missed. I haven’t seen Dee in a while, but we played DCABA baseball together for years and then became friends at WJHS. He was almost always happy, quick with a joke, had a smile on his face and was a good friend. He will be missed.
Such sad news. Haven’t seen Dee in probably 20 years but knew him well through school. Had a lot of great times together! Prayers for the family during this time of grieving.

I first met Dee and his Father Dwight in 1990 when they were building the the Prairie Park Development. Dee was a hard worker and enjoyed life to the fullest. So sorry Dee will be missed.

My condolences to the Perry family. I met Dee in 10 th. grade . I have great memories of shooting pool, fishing, 4 wheeling and even finishing concrete. Dee was always good at anything he wanted to do. He was a great man and will be missed greatly by many.
