Dorothy Jean Thompson

A private family inurnment at Memorial Park Cemetery for Dorothy Jean Thompson (Cochran), 96, Lawrence, KS will be held at a later date. Dorothy passed away on Wednesday March 2, 2022, at LMH Health.

Dorothy was born on August 12, 1925, in West Plains, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur Wright Cochran, Sr., and Maude (Bristow) Cochran.

She was a homemaker.

She married Allen Thompson in 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.  Allen preceded her in death in 2009.  Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Aileen, Louise, Marie, Sue, and Joann; and her five-year-old grandson, Jason Thompson who passed away from cancer.

Survivors include her son, Allen “Scott” Thompson and his wife, Alexandra, Lawrence; grandson, Zach Thompson, Seattle, WA; and brother, Arthur Wright Cochran, Jr., Aurora, CO.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
