Doris Bryan

The Memorial Mass for Doris J. Bryan, 73, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (6001 Bob Billings Parkway) in Lawrence, KS.  Private inurnment will be at a later date.  She died on March 10, 2010 at Midland Hospice House, Topeka, KS.

She was born on October 17, 1936 in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Karl E. and Hazel Emery Romstedt.   

She formerly attended the University of Kansas. 

Mrs. Bryan was a former bookkeeper at Cottonwood, Inc in Lawrence and prior to that has worked as a school secretary at India-Kaw Valley Elementary School in Lawrence and as a clerk in the children’s department at Weaver’s Department Store.

She was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

She married Richard L. Bryan on October 9, 1952 in Harrisonville, MO.  He survives of the home.

Survivors include three daughters; Pamela S. (husband, Larry) Leinwetter of Topeka, KS, Nancy (husband, Rob) Peterson of Topeka, KS, Diana (husband, Steve) Beitz of Topeka, KS, a sister, Elloise Whitacre, of Excelsior Springs, MO, five grandchildren, (Lee Leinwetter, Laura Leinwetter, Bryan Leinwetter, Pete Peterson, Kaya Beitz and two great grandchildren, Anderson Leinwetter and Adrianna Leinwetter.
 
The family will greet friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the church, with a closing Vigil at 8:15 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contribution in her name to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

    To the family and friends of Aunt Dee Dee, I wanted to take a minute to offer my condolence’s to you all. I regret that I will not be able to attend the services as I am currently stationed overseas in Iraq. I have fond memories of Aunt Dee Dee and her family as far back as I can remember, especially around the holidays!! May God be with you all as you struggle through this difficult time.
