Dorine Mae Arvidson

The Arvidson family of De Soto, Kansas report that (the matriarch of the family) Dorine Mae Arvidson, age 80, passed away March 5th 2017. Her final resting place was at the Kansas City Hospice in Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial services for Dorine will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 21155 College Blvd., Olathe, Kansas, 66061.

Dorine Alexander was born October 21, 1936 in Chile, South America. Her parents, Addison and Solena Alexander were Presbyterian missionaries serving in Valparaíso, Chile. After her training as a nurse in Emporia, Kansas and receiving her Registered Nurse degree, Dorine served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Ecuador, South America. On May 25, 1968, Dorine married John Arvidson. While raising her five children, Dorine continued her career as a nurse. Later in life she briefly pursued her dream career as an interior decorator. Dorine is survived by her children: Carl Arvidson and wife Miki of Osaka, Japan; Mark Arvidson and wife Cody of Richardson, TX; Kristine Lindsey and husband Ronald of De Soto, KS; Cindy Jusseaume and husband Mike of Kansas City, MO; Julie Walker and husband Cliff of Santa Fe, NM; and Grandchildren Caegan, Grace, Devan, Samuel, Rickey, Parker, Oscar, Sophia, and Solena. She also is survived by her sister, Marcia Alexander of Altadena, CA.

Dorine blessed her family and many friends with her compassion and joy. She will be greatly missed.

    I spent many happy times with Dorine at Sarah Circle and with the Mission Committee at Eudora United Methodist Church. She was a dear lady and a good friend and she will be missed. I know that your family have many happy memories of your mother and grandmother.
