A visitation for Dewey “Lee” LeRoy Barnhart, 86, Lawrence, KS will be held 1:00 ~ 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. A Graveside will take place 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at Dean Cemetery in Pomona, KS. Dewey passed away Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, at his residence in Lawrence, KS.
Dewey was born March 24, 1937, in Pomona, KS, the son of Dewey M. and Lena (McCracken) Barnhart.
Survivors include his daughters, Liz Barnhart, Tracy Wingebach, Lori Barnhart, grandchildren, Tyler Wingebach, Stefanie Wingebach, Lucas Wingebach, and Shawna Gilkey.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Keith, Donny, and Bob Barnhart.
The family suggests memorials in Dewey’s name to Douglas County Visiting Nurses or The Parkinson’s Foundation and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Lawrence Chapel.

So sorry to hear about Lee’s passing. I really enjoyed seeing and talking with Lee at Hallmark. He made work fun.
He was just plain Leroy when we went to high school together. We became great friends. My mom and I hitched a ride to Ca. when he was in the service.

Lee was a friend to everyone at Hallmark , always willing to help and a true craftsman at his job . After i retired Lee would always stop and talk if i was out in my yard and he was driving by . This world has lost a fine and gentle man . Rest in Peace Lee.

I remember your Dad when I was young and he was working at Quality Oil many years ago and all of our days at Hallmark plus he drove the van for Baldwin Hallmark people. He was a good man of honesty.

Sorry for the loss of your Dad Liz, Tracy, and Lori. I remember Lee when I was a teenager and he was working at Quality Oil. Then all of our days at Hallmark and he drove the van from Baldwin to Hallmark for all Baldwin Hallmark people. We will remember Lee as a good neighbor and friend.

So saddened by this news. Joe and I both worked at hallmark with Lee. He always saw to it that all of us Baldwin riders got to work safe and on time in the mini van. He will be greatly missed. RIP Lee!

As I looked at Lee’s picture, I smiled at a memory of him showing up with his sheep to eat the dandelions growing on our farm. He told my dad the sheep loved them and your yard didn’t have a single dandelion.
I hope your memories bring you comfort and joy at this time and going forward.

Your Dad and family was there to help us move in that first day we had lost a piece of Kim’s crib and he made the missing piece best neighbor we could ask for, I can see him coming across the yard about every Sunday morning to have coffee, driving the Hallmark Van, he would mow his yard every weekend and took pride in his yard showing all the new plants and bushes .was there to take care of my snakes that came in the yard He was proud of you girls ,may your memories comfort you at this time.
