Dar was my very dear friend. I met her at Neuvant House in June 2016 when I was activities asst. We became instant friends, and even after I left a year later, we kept in touch. We talked on the phone over the phone, and I continued to visit Dar and the other residents at Neuvant. There are so many things I will remember about Dar, but most of all, she loved me (and I loved her). Never hesitant to tell me how she felt, Dar was so full of life and love and laughter. We always had good times together, but we also had heartfelt talks about more serious issues. She loved Tom Selleck and because of her, I wrote him to send autographed pictures to the residents; we were on local TV; we watched Jesse Stone movies over and over again. I know her health had not been good as I saw her last on July 4th, and I intended to visit her on Saturday; instead I decided to go on Sunday to the hospital. Somehow, I had a terrible feeling that she had left us that Sunday morning. There will always be a special place in my heart for Dar, and I will remember the many wonderful times we had together–especially the way she said my name. I will miss her voice. I will miss her beyond words. My heart goes out to her wonderful family; she loved you all so much. That was Dar.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Dars family. She was an amazing presence in my life…I will forever remember her as Grandma Dar. She “took his love from above and strength and peace was her gain”.
    Many blessings on her family!

    To Dar’s family,
I met Dar at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and we were active in Martha and Mary’s Way, a outreach house located in Lawrence which she was active in helping decorate and run with the beautiful, sweet nun, Sr. Irene. We had prayer meetings at Dar’s house in order to organize the house, and I just loved her from the minute I met her. The word, “kindness” come to mind when I think of her. She served others easily, first her husband, George, who I got to meet also(and really enjoyed, her family, and her friends. She served God joyfully! I will miss her.
