Dani was born April 5, 1955 to Archie and Sally Bedford. Growing up she lived in DeSoto Kansas, moving to Sacramento California for 8 years, then returning to DeSoto where she graduated from high school. She began her college studies at the University of Kansas, took a break to get married, and eventually graduated from Wesley Medical School with a nursing degree. She worked in several KC area hospitals including KU, Research, and North Kansas City. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1987. After surgery and treatment she worked as a gardener for many years, and ended her work career with the Unified School District in DeSoto. But the biggest career joy of her life was raising her three children.

Dani was the oldest of five children and always tried her best to lead the way in fun and misadventures often succeeding. She had a passion for her family, and for flowers. She was gracious, caring and always looked out for others. She knew how to find the beauty and joy in almost any situation. Dani always had a smile on her face, and kindness and generosity in her heart. She was loved, and will be deeply missed.

Danita was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her siblings: Brenda (Darrell) Sampson, David (Darlene) Bedford Sr., Brent (Yvette) Bedford, Doug (Kim) Bedford, her children: Amy (Bill) Holzhueter, Shana “Niki” (Bo) Nelson, and Jesse Bedford, her grandchildren: Aviva and Liam Holzhueter, Kalina, Eliora, and Beck Nelson, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family is deeply grateful for the heartfelt care and friendship from the exemplary professionals at Hillside Village of DeSoto.

My deepest condolences to Danita’s family. One of my favorite quotes from Helen Keller.
“What was once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose. For all that we love deeply becomes part of us. “
