Military inurnment services for Cyrus F. Young, 78, Lawrence, will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 19th at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Fort Riley, Manhattan, Kansas. He died on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 11, 1931 in Omaha, NE, the son of Floyd Young and Goldie (Shupe) Young.
Mr. Young has been a Lawrence resident since 1972. He worked heavy construction for List & Clark, Dunbar, & King’s Construction Company where he retired in 1996.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country as an E-6 Staff Sergeant, in the Korean War.
He is Methodist by faith and a member of Mt. Oread Aerie #309, FOE (Eagles), Lawrence, and the Moose Lodge of Topeka.
He married Margie Collins in 1954. He later married Patricia Hanrahan August 10, 2009 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives of the home.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Lee, Americus, KS, Carol Amyx, Lawrence, KS, Jill Giroux, Peoria, AZ, and Pam Young, Lawrence, KS; one son, Cyrus F. Young, Jr., Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother, John Young, Manhattan, KS.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Senior Center, Lawrence, Kansas and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
