Constance “Connie” Turner

Constance “Connie” Elaine Turner, 66, of Lawrence, passed away on December 21, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence. The family is planning a private family viewing and memorial at a later date.

She was born on July 7, 1952 in Garnett, Kansas. She was the youngest daughter of Franklin L. and Leora Belle (Lilly) Borror.

She graduated from Lawrence High School. She worked at Packer Plastic for 22 years before retiring.

She married Clayton Turner on January 30, 1970 in Lawrence, Kansas. They were blessed with 3 children: Michelle, Clayton Jr. “Dean,” and Jennifer.

Connie loved having her grandchildren over at her house all the time when they were younger. She took great pleasure in cooking, baking, reading, and playing games with her grandchildren, among other activities. She also loved seeing her great grandchildren and spending time with them.

She loved watching the birds from her porch or window. She had a vast collection of windchimes that she adored. She loved camping, gardening, fishing, going to family reunions, and attending parades and festivals with her family.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and cross-stitching. She loved to share this hobby with her granddaughters and taught them what she knew. Connie also enjoyed genealogy research of her family. She often reminisced with her family over photographs and interesting facts about the family.

Connie loved Christmas, displaying her impressive collection of singing Christmas animals and her wonderful Santa’s village, to the delight of her grandchildren. She also loved the fireworks on the 4th of July.

Connie also had quite the sense of humor, loving to crack jokes with her entire family. She was also an avid card game player and loved to play Yahtzee, getting the whole family involved in the fun. She loved family gatherings, especially at her house. Her home was always filled with love and laughter throughout the years.

She is survived by her husband Clayton, of the home; her children, Michelle Walton of Lawrence; Clayton Turner, Jr. of Lawrence and Jennifer Ray of Emporia, KS; her brother, Franklin L. Borror of Lawrence, her sister, Judith Shepherd and her husband, Elmo of Lawrence; eight grandchildren: Lara Chance and her husband, Chaz Chance, James Giffin, Ashlie Raby and her husband, Jeff Raby, Krystal Turner, Chasidy Ray, Belle Ray, Miranda Walton, and Kyle Walton, and eight great-grandchildren: Abbi Irene Turner, Samuel Isac Raby, Patrick Norman Raby, Natalee Elizabeth Chance, Emily Marie Raby, Amethyst Rose Ayala, Clara Isabel Raby, and DeMarcus Allan Cook. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family is suggesting that memorials in her name be sent to Warren McElwain in care of the mortuary.
