Memorial gathering for Charles Henry Tunget, Jr., 66, Lawrence, KS, will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. He died on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at his home.
Charles was born on March 24, 1946 in Parsons, KS the son of Charles Henry Tunget, Sr. and Patricia (Ackley) Tunget.
He served his country in the US Army and was discharged prior to the Vietnam War.
He worked in the sanitation department for the City of Lawrence.
He was a very loving husband and wonderful father. He was very honest, very strong, and a very wonderful man.
He married Sarah Romero on July 4, 2000 in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include one daughter, Michelle (Tunget), and husband, Jim Powers; one son, Richard Tunget, both of Winsted, MN; stepson, Raymond Hall, Lawrence: two grandsons, Anthony Turner Powers and Quinton Powers; his mother Patricia (Ackley) Wise and stepfather, Chuck Wise, Wellsville, KS; half-sister, Dana (Mayhugh) and husband, Roger Robertson, Baldwin City, KS; half-brother, Roger, and wife Deanna Mayhugh, Baldwin City, KS; half-brother, Kurt Mayhugh, Smithville, MO; sister-in-law, Charla Tunget, Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; beloved brother, Sam Tunget; and beloved sister, Sharon (Tunget) Coup.
The family suggests memorials in his name to the American Diabetes Association or Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
